Veterinary nurses

Emma joined Woodlands Veterinary Group in August 2000 and completed her training here whilst attending Duchy College. Emma finds her role as Head Nurse very rewarding, she enjoys supporting the whole team in helping to provide a high standard of care. Emma takes a lead role in the orthopaedic procedures performed at the hospital; from ordering implants to assisting the Veterinary surgeon with the surgery.

Outside of Woodlands Emma has a passion for dancing and acting. She attends the Dell School of Dance where she has been a member since a very young age. Emma also loves to travel and explore new places with her family and friends, from exotic destinations to local city breaks.

Laura started working at Woodlands Veterinary Group in 2005 after leaving school. In 2006 she began her veterinary nurse training, qualifying in 2010. She is planning to attend the Harper Adams University College to further her training and achieve a Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (DipAVN) with BSc. At home Laura has a one-eyed cat, which she rehomed from the Woodside Sanctuary and in her spare time enjoys keeping fit, mainly running and going to the gym, socialising and going to the cinema.

Jade qualified in 2012 from Duchy College in Cornwall. She then travelled around different practices in the south west before moving to join Woodlands in 2018. Jade has a keen interest in feline medicine and surgery, and is looking to complete her advanced certificate in feline nursing. Outside of work Jade loves to travel and spend time with her family and friends.

Charlotte qualified with a foundation degree in veterinary nursing in summer 2015 before then going onto working at an orangutan rehabilitation centre in Borneo for three months which she thoroughly enjoyed. In September 2015, Charlotte became part of the Woodlands nursing team. She particularly enjoys being the ward nurse for the hospital and being a part of the inpatients journey here with us. In her spare time she enjoys going for long walks with Bindy, her Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, and seeing friends and family.

Tina has worked for woodlands vets since august 2003, she has been in the veterinary profession for many years and qualified from Bicton collage in 1999. Tina enjoys all aspects of working in the veterinary practice, mixing her working shifts between the hospital and branch surgery. She especially enjoys nursing clinics along with meeting clients & their pets.

To relax Tina loves eating out, watching films and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys walking with her border terrier, Tillie.

Natalie qualified in 2013 and relocated to Plymouth in 2018 when she joined Woodlands. She has previously worked in a large referral hospital and enjoys medical cases and inpatient care. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, travelling and going for walks. Natalie has a dog, Tia, and a cat, Butler, both of which she has rescued from previous veterinary practices that she has worked at.

Todd began working for Woodlands Veterinary Group as a student veterinary nurse at the Ivybridge branch in 2007. After qualifying he later transferred to our Plymouth hospital and is now the lead ward nurse. He also heads up our nursing clinics with a passion for tackling obesity. Prior to Woodlands, he gained seven years’ experience working with animals in a non-veterinary profession for a local charity. He enjoys cultural trips abroad exploring ancient ruins and old cities. However he is usually found indoors with his nose in a book. He is also a competent baker with a speciality for cheesecakes, profiteroles and cannolis (some of you may have tried them at our last Woodlands bake sale).

Holli qualified in 2009 and has been with us since January 2017 after moving to Plymouth. She has recently returned from maternity leave and now heads up the out of hours team. Her interests within the job are anaesthesia, wound management, physiotherapy and rehabilitation. She has a cat called Lilly and enjoys spending time with her family on days out exploring Plymouth.

Tina qualified from Berkshire College of Agriculture and has gained experience at a number of small animal practices throughout the UK. She joined Woodlands in 2003 as part of the dedicated night team, of which she was part of for 10 years. She now works at our hospital and is also a clinical coach involved in the training of our student nurses. Outside of Woodlands, Tina lives with her family and Border Terriers, Doolie and Mabel, and likes to spend time enjoying the natural benefits of the moors and the coasts.

Laura started working at Woodlands in 2009 as a student veterinary nurse, whilst also attending Hartpury College. In 2013 she qualified with a BSc (Hons) Veterinary Nursing Science degree. In 2017 she qualified as an SQP and now has involvement with the pharmacy department here at Woodlands. Outside of work Laura enjoys retail therapy and spending time with family and friends. She has two cats named Brian and Malcolm who she adopted from Woodside Animal Sanctuary, and a Horsfield tortoise called Norman.

Maddie Taylor graduated from Anglia Ruskin University with an honours degree in Veterinary Nursing with Applied Animal Behaviour in 2018. Maddi has an interest in animal behaviour, particularly regarding fear-free handling and enjoys participating in puppy parties run at the Manadon branch. In her spare time Maddi enjoys reading, listening to music and spending time with her girlfriend.

Amy is a second year Veterinary Nursing student who relocated from Dorset to Plymouth in 2018, and then joined Woodlands Veterinary Group. Previously Amy worked in an exotic specialist practice, closely working with the RSPCA and their wildlife cases. She is also interested in large animals and has been a dairy farmer in the past. Amy enjoys spending time with her partner and walking their dogs in her free time.
