POST OP CAT SPAY ADVICE

Your Pet has today had an ovariohysterectomy under general anaesthetic. It is important you follow these guidelines to ensure Your Pet has a speedy recovery.

• Allow Your Pet to rest in a warm, quiet place tonight.

• Feed Your Pet a small bland meal this evening such as boiled chicken or fish as a heavy meal could cause vomiting. She can return to her normal diet tomorrow.

• Keep Your Pet inside for 7 – 10 days to allow the surgical wound to heal.

• Monitor her wound carefully, if it is looking red and sore or she is licking at the site, please contact the surgery for a buster collar as this could delay healing.

• Your Pet will have been given pain medication prior to her surgery which will last for 24hrs and this is normally sufficient. However, in some cases a further 48 hours pain relief in tablet form will be supplied. If you feel that Your Pet is in further discomfort after this please contact the surgery.

POST OPERATIVE CHECK

• Please bring Your Pet back to the surgery in 3 days for a check up.

• Your Pet has non dissolvable stitches that will need to be removed 10 days after the surgery

• Your Pet has dissolvable stitches that do not need to be removed. Check ups at the surgery are included in the cost of the operation however, any additional medication will incur a charge.

IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS ABOUT YOUR PET PLEASE CONTACT THE SURGERY IMMEDIATELY Tel 01752 700600 or 01752 690999
