The former owners, Jeremy and Gisella Kneen moved to Ivybridge in 1985 to work with George Austin. The practice was based in a small shop in Ivybridge High Street and it soon became clear that new premises were needed to provide the up to date service that Jeremy and Gisella wanted to practice, so Woodlands Veterinary Centre was born.
Jeremy’s father Robert Kneen and Terry Biddlecombe built the practice which was officially opened in 1988. Since then the practice has expanded rapidly and in 1999 Woodlands Veterinary Hospital was opened in Plymouth, providing 24-hour care for sick and injured animals.
The practice ethos of providing the best first opinion veterinary practice possible to our clients has proved successful with many full-time and part-time vets now working between the two surgeries. The practice prides itself on its ability to provide top quality professional services within a caring and friendly environment.
Today Woodlands Veterinary Group consists of two purpose built veterinary clinics both offering parking and both easy to reach being just off the A38.
Both Woodlands Veterinary Hospital in Manadon and Woodlands Veterinary Centre in Ivybridge house up to date veterinary services and equipment allowing us to offer digital radiography and ultrasound facilities, digital dental X-raying, orthopaedic surgery, laparoscopic ovariectomy together with in-house laboratory services and many other advanced veterinary procedures together with comprehensive 24-hour care at our hospital in Manadon, Plymouth. These facilities and services ensure accurate and essential diagnostics and our independent operating suites means rapid treatment is carried out when time is of the essence.
